What it is

Devin is Cognition's coding agent. Devin Cloud runs each session in its own virtual machine, tests its work in a browser and keeps going after you close your laptop. Devin Desktop, the new name for Windsurf, is a full IDE with Tab completions and a command center for managing local and cloud agents, including Codex and Claude Agent. There is also a Devin CLI, a JetBrains plugin, and Slack and Teams integration, with models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Cognition's own SWE-2.

The free plan has a light agent quota with unlimited Tab completions. Pro costs $20 a month and adds frontier models and cloud agents; Max is $200 a month. Teams costs $80 a month plus $40 per full seat. Usage quotas refresh daily and weekly, with extra usage at API pricing.

Best for

  • Delegating tickets and getting back a tested pull request
  • Former Windsurf users, whose editor is now Devin Desktop
  • Teams that want to tag an agent from Slack or Teams
