What it is
ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat assistant. You type, talk or upload files, and it answers using OpenAI's GPT-6 family of models, with tools for image creation, deep research, voice chats, memory and projects. It also includes Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, and ChatGPT Work for longer tasks, both limited on the free plan. It runs in the browser, in iOS and Android apps, in a desktop app and as a Chrome extension.
It suits almost anyone who wants a general assistant. The free plan includes unlimited text chats with GPT-6, but uploads, image creation, voice and deep research are limited. The Go plan raises those limits and may show ads; Plus and Pro add the advanced reasoning models and higher usage caps.
