What it is
Qwen Chat, now branded simply as Qwen, is Alibaba's AI assistant, powered by its Qwen series models. Beyond chat, it offers image generation and editing, Deep Research reports, a Web Dev mode that builds a web page from a prompt, a thinking mode for harder problems, web search, and understanding of images, audio and video. It runs at chat.qwen.ai and in mobile apps.
It suits people who want a capable free assistant and like to try new models early. Qwen says it is free to use. Many Qwen models are also released as open weights for developers, but the chat service itself is a hosted product from a Chinese company, which some organizations will need to weigh.
