What it is
Grammarly checks your writing as you type in browsers, desktop apps, documents and on your phone, flagging spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes and showing your tone. Its AI can also generate and rewrite text from prompts. The company behind it renamed itself Superhuman in October 2025, but the Grammarly product keeps its name.
It suits anyone who writes a lot in English. The free plan covers mistake checks, tone detection and 100 AI prompts a month. Pro, listed at $12 a month after a 7-day free trial, adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustments, plagiarism and AI-text detection and 2,000 AI prompts a month. Grammarly needs to read what you type, which some workplaces restrict.
Best for
- Catching mistakes in email, documents and messages as you write
- Non-native English speakers who want more fluent writing
- Teams that want consistent tone across the company
