What it is

Spokenly types your speech into whatever app has the cursor. It can transcribe on your device with Whisper or NVIDIA's Parakeet models, through cloud models with your own API key, or through Spokenly's own cloud on the Pro plan, in 100+ languages. A Local Only Mode blocks all network access except model downloads and connections to your own computer, and an iPhone app adds a dictation keyboard. It works with no account.

Local models and your own keys are free with no word limit. Local+ costs $29 once for extras such as settings sync; Pro costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year and adds Spokenly's cloud models and AI cleanup without your own keys. On Mac, Windows and Linux, a free Local Model Cleanup setting runs a small on-device model that removes filler words and repeats and applies corrections you say out loud; it is off by default. A new install uses cloud models by default, so choose a local model before relying on it offline. There is no Android app.

Best for

  • Unlimited free dictation that stays on your computer
  • Dictation on Linux or Windows as well as a Mac
  • Using your own OpenAI, Deepgram or Groq key instead of a subscription
