What it is
Comet is a web browser from Perplexity with an AI assistant built in. You can ask it about the pages you have open, compare sources, and have it carry out tasks across websites, such as drafting an email reply, organizing your inbox, comparing products or making a purchase. Search runs through Perplexity, and it is available on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android.
Perplexity made Comet free to download in October 2025, and the assistant is usable without paying. Free use comes with limits, and higher usage and the more capable features come with paid Perplexity plans. Letting an agent act in logged-in accounts carries privacy and security risks, so check what it is doing on sensitive sites.
Best for
- Asking questions about the page or tabs you have open
- Handing off web chores like shopping or email triage
- Perplexity users who want its search built into a browser
